You can connect a USB mouse or a keyboard to the USB socket on the keyboard dock, or both kbd and mouse if you use a hub. The Asus dock does have a USB host port, though, so it stands to reason that the keyboard and mouse might be seen as standard USB devices.
They are connected to the tablet by the Asus proprietary connector, which looks kinda like the old 30-pin Apple iPhone connector. I'm not sure if the keyboard and trackpad are seen as standard USB HIDs. The section heading, however, pertains to the tablet dock, which has a keyboard and trackpad, similar to a laptop.
